» APPEARANCE : It may seem to some that Spike stopped growing at a young age, as he is still the same size he was as an apprentice. His parents were small too, so that might be more so the reason for his small size. But whatever the reason, he is small... and he hates it.
His pelt is black, but he has a white chest and white paws, along with some spots of white on his mouth and underbelly. His eyes are an icy, penetrating blue, and some cats feel uncomfortable or even nervous when they are under his gaze. His fur is rather short, so he isn't very well protected in the colder times of the year, though it is possible that his fur will grow longer as he gets older.
He has a very light frame and build, and it can seem that he is very fragile. He is thin and his bones are small, which does make him a very swift and agile cat, but he lacks in strength.
He is unmarked except for a large scar that runs from his shoulder to his flank on his right side, from a badger fight when he was younger.
» PERSONALITY : Spike has enough confidence for all of StarClan. He is rarely in doubt, and is quite full of himself. If he ever makes a mistake, he finds a way to cover it up, either by making an excuse, finding a way to get others to forget it ever happened, or lying. He sometimes looks down on others, thinking that he is more superior than them.
However, there is one factor in which he lacks confidence, and that is his strength. He hates how his size affects how strong he is, as it would make sense for his body to resemble his attitude, though it obviously doesn't. He wants to have the ability to have others fear him for his strength, though at the moment at least, that is clearly not possible, for who would fear a small, skinny, small-boned kitten?
He doesn't always have a positive outlook on life, and sometimes it goes so far that he doesn't even care much to live. He has depression swings, that's one way to say it.
He is a talented hunter, though he would much rather practice fighting or actually battle than go hunting. He is a very independent cat.
» HISTORY : Spike's mother, Mouse, was once a member of StormClan. However, she was in love with a rogue named Crow, and she left the Clan to be with him. They decided to have kits.
She was not accustomed to the life of a rogue, as she was used to having a Clan to help support her in her pregnancy, like most queens. But Crow was there for her and managed to keep Mouse healthy until it was time for her to give birth. She gave birth to three kits, Spike, Thorn, and Moth. As soon as Spike and Thorn were born, Mouse and Crow could tell that they would be fighters, and take after their father. They immediately began squirming and Spike even let out a tiny squeak as they found their way to Mouse so they could feed.
However their sister Moth was still, and Crow had to push her over to Mouse. It took a little urging to get her to feed. She seemed to take after Mouse, as she had the same color pelt.
Crow taught all three kits how to hunt, fight, and survive without living in a Clan. Spike and Thorn became independent cats; they didn't mind living on their own with only a few cats to keep them company. But Moth longed for true friends and more cats to live with. She was very intrigued by StormClan.
When Spike was at the age that an apprentice would be, he realized he was still very small, a little bit larger than a five moon old kit. He became very frustrated when practicing fighting, because he couldn't use strength to defend himself, he merely had to use agility. One day, he decided to test himself.
A family of badgers had been living a little while away from where his family had settled, and he decided that they would be a good way to practice fighting in a real battle. He got the attention of the mother badger, and attacked her. Almost immediately he realized that this was the stupidest thing he could have chosen to do. Here he was, a small weak kitten, against a full grown badger who was protecting her cubs.
He fought on however, for a lengthly amount of time. But he grew weaker and weaker as the battle went on, and he was becoming sluggish. The badger took a good swipe at him, and clawed his side, creating the mark that would scar his body forever. He was thrown across the clearing, and blood was gushing out of his side. He screeched as loud as he could, letting out all his pain and anger with himself.
Luckily, his father heard him, and brought Thorn to help fight off the badger. Together, Thorn and Crow eventually chased off the badger, but they knew she would return. They dragged Spike back to where they were settling at the time. Miraculously, Mouse had been training for medicine cat when she left the Clan, and she knew the herbs that would heal her son.
Now Spike lives as a loner. His brother and sister are still living and he sees them often. His father and mother are quite old; they will be joining StarClan soon. [Moth believes in StarClan, however Crow, Thorn, and Spike don't. Mouse is unsure.]
