Leaf - Colony Cat « Thread Started on Apr 25, 2008, 4:03pm »
Name of Cat: Leaf
Age of Cat: forty moons
Rank of Cat: Colony Cat Gender of Cat: she-cat
Appearance: Leaf is, frankly, beautiful. Her coat is short and thick, a good density to weather cold temperatures. She keeps it well-groomed and gleaming. The underlying color is a sandy brown, flecked with darker bits in places. Overlying that are thick, chocolate-brown stripes. They’re not so dark as to be nearly black, but not light or red enough to be sienna. They’re a shade darker than the typical medium shade one thinks of as ‘brown.’ Her tail is half-way ringed with stripes, and her chest and throat are creamy white.
Leaf has a particularly feminine look about her. Her face structure is delicate, yet austere, like a noble lady. She is small, but not tiny, simply fragile-looking. Indeed, she is most definitely not the strongest cat in the forest. But she’s fast. Built for sprinting, she has long legs in proportion to her body. She’s agile and flexible as well, qualities she has to rely on if she meets a stronger or bigger cat in battle.
Leaf’s name comes from her eyes. They are the color of leaves in new-leaf, a bright green. They usually harbor a gentle look, almost a mild interest, a look that says ‘you can trust me.’ But in battle or while hunting, an intense focus will sweep into them.
Personality: Leaf has her own strengths and her own insecurities. She has an intelligent mind, liking games of logic. She’s alert, always tuned to what’s around her. Leaf thinks, and observes. Outwardly, she’s confident and strong-voiced. But she speaks impetuously often. She cannot seem to control her emotions- anger and fear and sadness all run rampant within her when they will, and she cannot but thinly veil them. She feels strongly, but often selfishly. She tends to put herself first. The exception to this is her family, who she puts above all others. She has deep and strong ties to her family members.
Leaf is afraid of change. She likes things to stay the way they are, if she’s content. But a part of her yearns for something different. She likes to take challenges, and challenge her physical and mental abilities. She’s a bluffer in battle, snarling and snapping with the best of them, taunting her opponents to distract them. She uses this because of her size, to try and slip past an enemy’s defense.
Forever and for her life, Leaf will keep a secret. Despite her questionable loyalty to large groups, if she takes a liking to someone, she will keep their confidence forever. This is the way she works- loyalty to individuals and small groups like her family. She is wary of obedience to a large entity, as she does not like to be manipulated.
History: Stone, mother (PB: Cinder) -- tan and white tabby she-cat with stone-gray eyes Mud, father (deceased) --bulky brown tabby with amber eyes Dapple, sister (deceased) -- tortoiseshell she-cat Flame, brother (not currently played) -- bulky brown tabby with bright orange eyes Rain, sister (PB: Raven) -- sandy tabby she-cat with blue eyes Star, Hawk, and Daze, half-siblings kithood: birth to six moons Leaf was born to a queen named Stone in late leaf-fall, when Stone was twenty-two months old. She had three siblings, two sisters named Dapple and Rain, and a brother named Flame. For the first few moons of her life, she always felt safe. Safe, and content with her mother. She spent most of her time sticking close to Stone, though she enjoyed Mud’s visits to her mother and grew very fond of her father. She remembers, at four moons old, looking in puzzlement for Rain, who she couldn’t see. But she felt assured her sister was all right, and after all, kits could easily be overlooked. By then, she had seen Longclaw, the StormClan rogue staying with them, from afar. She thought he looked scary, but she didn’t know much about him. With her natural dislike for change, however, she disliked him also, not fond of anything disrupting her normal life. This dislike persists to this day. But after that day, Leaf never saw her father again. She was devastated, but she had no idea what had really happened- Longclaw had killed Mud. All she knew was that Rain had come back to camp with a different look than usual- just a slight difference, and Leaf wasn’t even sure it was really there. apprentice age: six moons to twelve moons With her father gone, Leaf learned hunting and fighting alongside her siblings, from her mother. By then, Longclaw had become Stone’s new mate. Leaf was uneasy around him, and preferred to stay out of his sight if possible. Consequentially, she spent less time with her mother, which she didn’t like. Instead, she spent her days playing and talking to her siblings. She started to listen to Rain, as her sister captivated her with her stories of betrayal- and murder. They, too, stirred an uneasy chord in her heart, but she was fascinated and always begged for more. Then, Dapple disappeared. Leaf was shocked, her grief spilling out around her wherever she went. Dapple, her sister, was gone, dead. She couldn’t control her sorrow, and she mourned for many weeks. They were no longer four, joined from birth. They were three. Leaf felt she couldn’t bear to lose another sibling. Alas, it was not to be. Rain, too, disappeared, though there was no evidence she was dead. Leaf clings today to that scrap of hope that Rain might still be alive, but it is slowly fading. For a few moons, she felt sunken into depression. To distract herself, she constantly honed her fighting and hunting skills. Alone.
warrior age: twelve moons and up When Leaf was fourteen moons old, Stone gave birth to Longclaw’s kits. Leaf looked at them, and found she didn’t know what to feel. They were so tiny and innocent, and they were bound to her by her very blood. Her mother seemed proud, and Leaf was happy for her. But she couldn’t shake the feeling that they were Longclaw’s, not just her mother’s. She feels a faint dislike for them even now. Star, Hawk and Daze, they were called, those mewling bundles of fur. She never paid much attention to them, except to help her mother if Stone wanted help. She began to spend more time with Stone, watching her and secretly worrying over her. She offered what help she could, coaxing her mother to come hunting or some such thing with her to get her away from Longclaw without him suspecting. Her dislike of him was growing.
