Appearance: Never once considered pretty enough to be a kittypet, Pounce has always been scruffy and rather unappealing since birth. Of course, all kittens are soft and fuzzy, too adorable to not like, but well into his first year, Pounce was anything but adorable.
From the earliest of days the brute has been considered just that: A brute. his legs are long and built up with thick, strong muscles, his entire body built like a stone. Even his face is stiff, long and broad with powerful jaws and a deep brow. Pounce is not at fault in battle, and has the scars to prove it, he is brazen and powerful, with enough strength behind his blows to gouge deep with his claws.
But, the scars. When his bulk can be overlooked, there is always the scars. From nose to tail, he is covered in them, even if his pearly fur has grown to cover most of these trophies. Many scabs have still yet to heal, and when his injuries are pushed aside, the state of his ungodly fur is nothing to purr at.
If cared for, Pounce's soft white fur might pass as pretty, but the young tom rarely washes himself fully. His paws, nose, and tail stay constantly in a state of filth. Whether it's blood, dirt, bile, or a simple grass stain, Pounce's fur is never white thesedays.
But his eyes! If there is any striking feature about him, aside from his unruly size, it must be his eyes. Pristine and vivid, Pounce's eyes always seem to be alight, sparkling mischievously in a silent plot to spook a youngster, or call some cat into conversation. They are a dirty yellow, mixed with various hues of hazel, but in no way unappealing in comparison to the rest of his body.
Personality: Of the big and brawny type, Pounce isn't exactly one for thoughtful care and consideration. He can be quite selfish at times, and rather insensitive of other cats' opinions, but he doesn't do it on purpose. Most rude comments or remarks are made simply out of habit, they're accidents, and he doesn't always think before he speaks.
He tends to point out the obvious, and shrug his shoulders when any cat tends to do the same to him. Pounce doesn't quite care what other cats say about him, whether in front of him or behind his back, and can too easily shift others' opinions aside.
However much the young tom appears to avoid confrontation, he is not completely anti-social. His communication skills aren't great, and starting a little chat with another is more difficult than catching a whole flock of starlings. Yet... when another cat approaches him, out of spite or interest, Pounce is more than happy to oblige them. If someone else starts it, he would be glad to finish it.
He is generally a very happy cat, he was simply born with a scowl.
Born as a single kit, Pounce grew up with two older sisters--twins, two beautiful white she-cats with crystalline blue eyes. Pounce's mother, too, was white, with eyes like the sun. The kits never met their father, but Leap often told her kits tales of a bold, swift, muscular tom named Flying Bird that was as beautiful and serene as any puff of cloud. Leap often exaggerated in her tales, but that was something her kits were unaccustomed to, and they grew used to fabricating things themselves.
The family of white cats lived alone, far along the mountain and the lake in the east. Leap would tell her kits stories as to how they got there, when she ran away from her People to seek a life without such bright lights, without noises, People kits, and cuddling. She was a tough she-cat, completely intolerant of snuggling, tumbling, games, or anything of the sort. She constantly punished her kits for playing, and thus, they grew up to be bold, habitual liars.
Life at the edge of the lake wasn't incredibly hard on the trio of kits, considering their source for water often wound up being their source for food as well. Frogs and small fish were common daily meals, water voles, rabbits, and mice being frequent delicacies. Leap was sleek and lean, a strong runner and fast hunter. Winter seemed to be the only time when bellies were occasionally empty.
The kits grew up quickly, and learned to hunt of their own accord, learning their mother's favorite tactics, absorbing her skills like a wet bunch of moss.
The three kits kept growing, as kits often do, and it was apparent Leap was growing tired of them, becoming grouchy and irritated--as mothers often are. Pounce was keen to stay with his mother, but his two sisters--very fond of one another--decided to leave the hateful she-cat's home. They headed east, and soon, Pounce would follow.
The Colony
The three cats traveled for nearly a moon, stopping here and there long the lake shore to stay for periods of three-four days to rest and hunt.
Nearly thirteen moons old--his sisters sixteen--Pounce followed his sisters until they found a group of cats. They were accustomed to living together, and were more than happy to fall in line with the massive family group of cats. Quickstep and Bound were immediately in love, the colony was more than heaven for them.
Pounce, however, found it somewhat more difficult. His demeanor was not accepted as quickly, being a tom, and found that company not always came in waves. Pounce often hunted for himself, and sat by himself, with few cats willing to speak to him. He was never one to engage in conversation, but was more than willing to participate when some cat was to address him.
Perhaps it was his appearance, and his quiet nature, that kept Pounce at bay, he never truly understood why cats tended not to speak to him. It was something he grew used to, however, and has never thought long about.
He stayed with the colony like his sisters, and made few friends, though he found the life incredibly comforting.
RainClan
When Rain approached the colony, seeking warriors for her "Clan", Pounce agreed to go. He was not about to leave the colony behind, whether or not he had ties to family or not. His sisters agreed to go as well, eager for the adventure, and Pounce immediately followed them.
What waited in RainClan, however, he was unaware of. It would be a surprise, a journey, and something else to experience.
